Nick Franklin
Nick is a senior partner with IDC and leads the business operations and member services areas as well as providing industry expertise to healthcare insurance companies. He also serves as chairman of the board of directors of New Mexico Mutual Casualty Company.
Prior to IDC, Nick was Vice President of University Advancement at New Mexico State University and President of the NMSU Foundation. In that capacity he provided leadership to the Foundation and led its first comprehensive campaign, the largest private campaign in the history of the state.
Before joining the NMSU Nick was senior vice president of public affairs for PacifiCare Health Systems, a Fortune 200 health insurance company. His corporate level responsibilities included government relations, regulatory affairs and communications. In addition to his PacifiCare activities, he represented the company in a number of industry groups including serving as the chairman of the Public Affairs Council, a national organization of public affairs professionals.
Earlier in his career Franklin was senior vice president of public affairs for FHP International.
Prior to joining FHP he was President and co-founder of Southwest Public Affairs, Inc. based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and attorney/partner with the law firm of Sutin, Thayer & Browne, P.C.
Nick has more than 40 years of experience in business, law and government acquired over a career which includes service as Chief Legislative Assistant and Legal Advisor to the Governor of New Mexico and Secretary of Energy for New Mexico.
